"Posessed By The Leviathan"

This is a new mixed media painting I created that I have on sale on my etsy store. I was inspired by a recent episode of Supernatural having to do with the Leviathan possesing Castiel the Angel.

I used colored pencil,watercolors and pen on printer paper that was tea and coffee stained.

Art Dolls And Creative Fatigue

I have been very exhausted lately and quite overwhelmed by the amount of things I have accumulated through the years and I have come to realize that all of the clutter definitely describes what is going on in my mind. So to dissolve this cluttery feeling one by one I have been ridding my art supply of excess garbage.

Projects that could soon be something grand by right now it just a bunch of recyclables and that is what I have made these things into in my mind. Something grandiose but that must wait. I am taking one project at time and clearing things away.

I can't keep everything!

I am still as creative as ever. But I have just been wanting to draw a lot to ease my mind.

Art Dolls,Cloth Art Dolls, And Handmade Paperclay

I recently made some paperclay using glue,newspaper,dishsoap,bleached flour and a bit of water. It made so much paperclay and I made a bunch of cool art dolls with it. It took these creations two and half weeks to dry. I think the next time I will spread the clay on fabric or polymer clay. One so it will last longer and secondly so that it will dry a lot faster.

I also decided to share some photos of the cloth dolls I have been working. Been wanting to add more embellishments to the dolls and possibly so props for the dolls.

Art Doll Mace Darkmoon

I just finished a new doll. This one came together within 2 days. That is quite incredible for me because it usually takes me months and sometimes years working on one doll. This one is a bit more simplistic than most of my dolls. And it is not freakishly huge like a lot of my dolls can get.

It's kind cool how it all came together quite magickally. I had extra handmade polymer clay beads on hand to make her bone nose and teeth. I knew that would come in handy. I have made so many different beads but have not sold as many as I expected so now I will just use the extras for adorning my dolls.

I like the simplicity of this one and will be doing more like Mace in the future.

Cloth Art Doll Mystickal Darkmoon

I just listed one of my newest creations "Mystickal Darkmoon".

I have been wanting to get a working sewing machine but through this longing for creating a piece much faster I have found patience and tranquilty sewing by hand. I think that a lot of my own energy is being put into the dolls I make by hand because the connection of the fabric in hands.

I used recycled fabrics,yarn and acrylic paints.

The story of the doll doesn't occur to me until I have completed her or him and I like it that way. But on the other hand I have been making some sketches that will be interesting to bring to life as a doll.

I am even thinking about writing little books to go with each one. My son is really good with origami and made me an origami book I could use for one of my dolls and I think that they can even turn into a comic as well.

Scary Art Doll For The Summer

Truth is I can celebrate Halloween 365 because it is just the one holiday that means anything to me! I think I have Halloween using out of my pores! I remember one thing my most favorite art teacher Mr. Stan Stoneking told me that made me not afraid to express the dark side of myself was to just let go. Letting go of others expectations of what my art should be and how I am allowed to express my creativity.

Here the latest two scary ladies I have listed on my etsy shop. Each one has a bit me within them. They were both handsewn and I used some of my handcrafted charms on Pinky Darkmoon. Can you guess which one is Pinky?

Gothicka Darkmoon is a tall woman. When I first started creating her I thought that she was going to be a man. She began to look a bit like a gothic version of the nutcracker. As I continued to work on her day by day she began to look more and more like a androgynous creature of the night .

Art Doll And SpringGoddess Purse on Etsy

Hello all,

It's been quite a while. I have had some trying times yet I continue to create through it all because I think that creating art is the best medicine for me. I seem to be creating schizophrenically. But surprisingly I end up finishing some projects that I would think would take ions to complete.

What I have learned is that it is better to just go with the flow of creation and listen to my creations message of wisdom and not worry about finishing every single project. Most projects I have found to be therapeutic and to have an endless amount of steps to them. I am learning to be more patient with them and not be so quick to get them over with when I am faced with something that seems impossible to complete.

My husband had these beautiful dresses that were given to him from a friend to sell on ebay about 4yrs ago. I kept asking him if I could use them for fabric since they are not worth any money. He finally gave into my begging and said yes. I created this awesome springtime flower goddess purse from it. I am so incredibly happy with how it turned out! It is listed on my etsy right now.

There is a dark dollie I just listed today that I have been working on for over 3yrs. She kept speaking to me but I wasn't listening. I finally listened to her and gave her the simplicity that she wanted. She only required a few adornments. I attached one of my charms which a sculpted from polymer clay. Which is a evil eye. The other embellishment is a amethyst-like charm. I forgot to mention that she is a two-sided doll.

Art Dolls With Feeling

Here is what I have been up to lately. I finished quite a bit of dolls lately and drawing and a goddess painting as well. I have really been enjoying exploring the world of papier mache dolls. Which are so tactile. I love the stickiness of the paste and the process of applying it onto the base,which is always a recyclable container so it makes me feel really good about contributing a piece of art made that will be biodegradable for the most part.

I opened up another store at ecrater. I have a few dollies there too. A dear friend mentioned it to me so I thought I would give it a whirl. The bunny couple sitting on the couch and the two-side doll with the bright yellow face and stitchy like mouth are on there. Please do take a look and tell me what you think.

I feel so good when a doll is completed. It feels as though they are alive and can communicate to the world.

I was once asked if I would be interested in mass producing my dolls and the answer is no.

Each doll is an original with their own personality and style. They have their own spirit and way of communicating. I just feel that it would be a disservice to the original!

Almost done with making some of my new dolls. The dolls have been wanting to have accessories so I have been creating little purses and jewelry for them. They seem happier for it. Each of them are two side dolls. Two-sided meaning that they have a whole other side or personality to them.

Just have the dolls to show and not the accessories yet but I have been having a ball.

Spooky Jewelry and Things

I am really enjoying making charms and beads for jewelry and now have been practicing making my own jewelry. I will post some soon once they are finished but in the meantime here is some photos of the charms and beads I have decided to put on my etsy store.

Each charm or bead is created using no molds.

I like this because each creation is unique. So if you wear one of these charms or beads within your jewelry you will know that no else has one like yours.

That is the whole reason why I decided to get into making jewelry. I can only wear gold and gold is expensive so I figured maybe I can experiment with polymer clay and hemp twine.

So I bought a book and now I realized that I probably should get thicker twine to make the necklaces and bracelets I envisioned I wanted.

Polymer Clay Skull Beads

I just posted some handmade skull beads on my etsy store. I have some medium sized ones and a whole lot of small ones.

I am selling the little one in lots of 6 and I have five lots for sale.

What makes my beads different from most skull beads is that I don't use a mold so you can always created a unique necklace,bracelet,or anklet with thes beads.

Tribal Purse Evil Eye

It is handsewn and I used all recycled fabrics,materials,and I also found a zipper from an old pair of cloth paints to add for closure.

Hope all of you are enjoying the New Year and are not getting hyped up on all this 2012 malarkey! The worst could just be Alien contact. But then again they probably have already been walking amongst us.

Art Doll Frostbita Darkmoon

Frostbita Darkmoon was definitely a labor of love.

She was created by me first creating the cloth body by hand. All of my dolls except for the repaint I do here and there are sewn by hand.

I then painted the body with acrylic paints.

I sewed her sweater dress from recycled wool fabric and a matching hat that is a bit tattered from being in the cold for so long.

Frostbita Darkmoon is a two-sided doll meaning she has two personalities. One is fille with fright the other is content with her life as a ghost doomed to repeat the memories of the tragic evening she parished in a snow storm.

Rotunda Darkmoon was created using recycled fabrics and acrylic paints.

Each braid on her hair was created seperately and then sewed onto her head.

She is handsewn just all of my other creations are.

Almost a new doll every day is produce some I may finish and other are like sketches trying to get some ideas out of my overly creative brain.

Valeria is a two-sided doll I created that I recently put on my etsy store. She is made of recycled fabrics and acrylic paints.

I first constructed a body out of recycled fabrics and then hand painted her from head to toe.

One side of her has a polymer clay nose. Just trying to experiment with cloth and clay again.

Royal Darkmoon is a two-sided doll that I created using all recycled fabrics and materials.

I used plastic grocery bags that I braided by hand and sewed each individal braid onto her head.

The dress was created using recylced fabrics and leaf charms that I painted by hand.

My love of recycled fabrics continues to grow when I am able to create a creature as spooky as this. I applied layer upon layer on paint on fabric. Letting the colors blend and speak to me. I asked Charr what type of creature are you and she said to me,"I am a creature of the night.

Anti-Valentine Doll

Her name is Valentina Darkmoon and she doesn't want to preach about her loathing of this horrid day. She feels that love should be expressed every day and not just one day of the year.

She wear her broken heart shirt every Valentine's Day to show to people how fake this holiday is.

She has two sides to her. Most of my dolls do. It's not a conscious thing I do when I create two personalities. The doll speaks to me and tells me she has more than one identity.

Monster Face Purse Complete

I finally finished this purse and I am very pleased at how it turned out. I will show you the back,the front,the beaded flower detail I created and the multi-color embroidery on the strap. I also took a photo of the inside which I painted with green acrylic paint. It is lumpy and bumpy inside but I know it will hold at least a cell phone,lipstick and perhaps a small wallet.

Monster face purse

I have been working on the monster face purse and realized that it won't be able to hold much as a purse. I put two pockets on the inside but because the faces are so lumpy and bumpy on the outside the inside is a bit lumpy and bumpy as well. So I guess you could fit lipstick and eyeliner and possible a cell phone in it. The kind woman who wants it has been so patient. I really went all out with the embroidered face. Here is what it looks like. I will take photos of the inside soon. I was gonna put a zipper on it but not sure it will work. I makes a nice doll head to hang on the wall for art if it's not used as a purse. I use all reacycled fabrics and materials to create it.

Art Doll Marva Darkmoon two-sided

Marva Darkmoon was created using recycled fabrics and materials. Wooden beads were used to adorn her hair and dress.

She is a doll with two side meaning you turn her around and there will see another face and another personality.

Her face and hands was hand painted on recycled cloth with acrylic paints.

Her dazzling smile was created using white plastic beads.

She is for sale I just took photos of her and went to post her on my etsy store but unfortunately the size of the photo was too big. I have to figure out how to manually resize the photo.

I used recycled plastic grocery bags for the braided hair.

Art Doll Merina Darkmoon Mermaid

I created Merina Darkmoon by first constructing the body from cloth and polyfill. I found recycled fabrics in my stash of donated shirts,skirts,paints and scarves and put together a beautifully original mermaid tail and real sea shells and crystal like beads to make her sparkle a bit.Her hair was cut up pieces of fabric strips that I braided and then hand sewed onto her head individually. I like to use two different colors or different fabric with patterns to make the locks have an energy to them. Her face was created using acrylic paints. I am really proud of the detail I was able achieve with this one. It took me about 4yrs to finish this one. I hope you enjoy viewing her. Zombilla Darkmoon Two-sided Cloth Art Doll

I had a lot of fun creating Zombilla. She is created using all recycled fabrics and materials. All handsewn by me. Her hair was constructed by making each individul dreadlock and then sewing on to her head. Each dread was created using two strips of stretchy cotton fabric and then sewing them together creating a tube. I then stuff the tube and then attach to her head. Her dress was created by altering an asian doll shirt a friend gave me and a lace and sequins skirt a friend gave to me. I then created her stockings using a black and white striped tank I use to own which was from the thriftstore. I then made her maryjane shoes using black cotton fabric. On the other side of Zombilla there is fishnet stocking I created using netting from a produce bag. She is now on my etsy shop for sale. Feel free to stop by.

Skully Darkmoon Clay Lint Art Doll

To create Skully I piled up all the dryer lint I had been saving for a week into a bowl along with a whole bottle of glue. I mixed the glue and lint with my hands and it is very stick and messy but I like sticky and messy. I never was a clean and neat artist. All that matters is that the finished art creation is not sticky and messy. After I mixed the clay to the right consistency I formed the body ,legs,arms,and head all in one form. It took about 3weeks to dry because of the weird weather we've been experiencing here in California. Once the body was dry I put a primer of white acrylic paints on the entire body. This layer of paint took about a week to dry. And then I put in the finer details with painting the shirt with black and red stripes and skull and the black paints and shoes. I like lint clay better than polymer clay for the fact that it dries very had and solid and is not as fragile. I posted Skully on my etsy shop. darkmoondoll.etsy.com

Chakka Darkmoon

Hello it is a new year and I have not post anything. It is already May and I wonder where all of the time has gone. I am so busy with raising my son and keeping up with basic household chores that I haven't had time to post some thoughts or images about my creations that I have been posting on etsy. I get a bit overwhelmed with life and some things get put to the side but today I thought would just discuss one creation I have completed and you can see also on my etsy as well. The creation I would like to talk about today is Chakka Darkmoon.

Chakka Darkmoon is a doll that has gone through considerable transformation. When I was in my backyard watering my garden about two years ago I looked over at my compost pile and found a doll lying on top of it. I surprised to see it there. It definitely meant to be for me to create another repainted art doll. I had no idea how or what she was to become but I was excited non the less about a new project.

I first applied a coating of green oil paint to her from head to toe. Luckily it was summer time because if not it would have taken a life time to dry. The drying on that was about a month in the direct sun.

Next, I applied each individual tattoo design instinctively using oil paints as well. I waited another month before she was completely dry. It wasn't until last year that I added her black faux fur mohawk. The finishing touch was created this year with the some bird feathers that I found in my backyard. I believe two of them to be Mourning Dove feathers and the small fuzzy one on her forehead is a turkey feather.

When she was complete I felt like I was staring back at another side of myself. It was the growth of two years through created Chakka that I saw all life's lessons learned.

I realized that the symbols that I instinctively painted on her body were universal and that anyone could feel a connection to the spiritual tribalness of her.

She,to me, expresses what we as humans really were once upon a time when we did not feel the need to commit to the ways of living the 9-5 techno instant gratification computer age world.

I long for a time when the earth gets back to basics and is allowed to heal.

The first two dolls are a rabbit couple. I enjoyed making the other rabbit doll and had extra fabric leftover that it only made since to make some more bunnies. Maureen Darkmoon is a doll that I have been working on for about a year. She has gone through many phases but has decided she wants to be an elaborately dressed pirate. So I will do my best to bring out her full pirate potential.

Devila Darkmoon Two-sided doll

So this is Devila Darkmoon. She is a two-sided doll. I used acrylic paints, recycled fabrics, avocado pit for the red skull. I painted snakes on the body on one side and flowers on the other.

I am thinking about giving her a mermaid tail and horns. The dolls speak to me and tell me how they want to be . I have been creating this doll for about 2yrs now and I sometimes get impatient and want to be done but the doll will only know when he or she is complete. Every detail comes together eventually so after 9yrs of creating dolls I have learned to surrender to the process and not be in such a hurry to let the creation go. I thought that I was crazy for starting so many dolls and not bringing all of them to their completion as most doll makers do. But I am learning to let go of the outcome. I can have an idea as to what I think a creation should look like and the doll's spirit will tell me just the opposite. Creating this particular doll really convinced me that I am not in control. She has been through many transitions and I know that it has a lot to do with the transitions I have gone through personally.

This a doll that I am having loads of fun creating. I had to put her down because she is not telling what else she needs to complete her. I know that it may sound crazy to some but the dolls do let me know when they are complete and when they need more work.

I hope that you enjoy her. She is telling me today that she needs a magick wand with a star at the end and possibly more hair.

Catabcomb and a Dark Mermaid

So here are some photographs of a two-sided doll I have been working which I named Marina Darkmoon and a painting of two demons in a catacomb that I am still painting. The problem with working 0n many projects at once is that I tend to run out of paint which is what happened and I have to patiently wait until my next trip to the craft store in order to finish my projects. Oh well!!

Addicted to doll making

I make what I call bottle dolls. I use old soda or beer bottles, acrylic paints,synthetic hair and avocado pits for the heads. I am addicted to making these as well as the cloth dolls that I make using recycled fabrics, paint, glue,sometimes clay. My mind never stops. Sometimes I start to think I can get all of these projects completed in a year but I know better than to rush the process. If I do not know what to do with a doll or whatever art project I happen to working on I hang it up or put out where I can see it all and the one that is ready to worked on will call out to me.

Centaur Enjoying The Weather

Here is a centaur doll that I have been creating for about a year now. I took an old stuffed horse doll that my son no longer wanted and altered it sewing my own handmade cloth doll head to it. I attached the hair one piece of yarn at a time. I still need to finish embellishing her dress and work on her tail. I will keep you all updated.

Panickista Darkmoon

Hello all I am going to talk to you today about a doll that I have almost completed. Her name is Panickista Darkmoon. She is a two-sided doll. She is cloth doll which I sew by hand. Every detail of her from her hat down to her shoes are hand sewn. The skulls on one side are handmade by me. She is asking me for a cane and perhaps a chair to sit on to rest her tired feet. She has been speaking a lot to me so I think I must obey. I love find old clothing and things that most people consider junk and making it into a wonderful piece of art. The dolls remind me that life is worth living and how fortunate I am to be alive. Although most of my dolls are look dead they are so full of life. The so many stories to tell. I have several different art projects that I have been working on. I am wondering when they will all be done. Some things I think I should just throw away. Yet when I approach the trash can I can not do it. I can not do it because each creation has life to it. It has my energy on it. It has life. The frustration of being an artist with so many ideas takes its toll at times. Yet creativity will never leave me alone. It comforts me in times of stress. I use to comfort myself with food a lot of the time to soothe make this frustration disappear. This is something a lot of people do. By saying this I am not justifying what I use to do I am merely stating a fact. These days I have opted to fuel my body with what it needs and nothing more and continue to solve my problems with creativity. Feeling sad and angry are natural. I can not run away from those feelings. Yet I can channel those feelings through my art.
It has been raining for about a week and the sun has come out today. Through watching the rain and recovering from a cold I faced some powerful emotions. These emotions came around to remind me of the blocks that I still have. These blocks are blocks from my past that I am breaking through by being true to myself and not trying to cover things up with a second helping of food. The rain brought about some very insightful dreams. These dreams were filled with many symbols with meaning of which I can easily decipher myself. And no doubt will show up in my art eventually.
